Newcity and MAS Context present a live recording of “A Lot You Got to Holler,” Newcity’s podcast about architecture, urbanism and design. The event will take place at the Chicago Design Museum (108 N State St, Floor 3).
Join “A Lot You Got to Holler” co-hosts Ben Schulman, Newcity Design section editor, and architectural journalist, Zach Mortice, as they interview John Tolva, former CTO, City of Chicago, and president of PositivEnergy Practice, and discuss the data and hidden systems that drive the city. And Tolva‘s DJ skills. A selection of drinks will be available for purchase courtesy of Chicago Design Museum.
John Tolva is the leader of PositivEnergy Practice, a Chicago-based clean tech systems engineering firm for buildings and cities. He served as Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s Chief Technology Officer for the City of Chicago from 2011 to 2013. From 1998 to 2011 he worked for IBM on applications of technology in cultural, social, and environmental domains. For our Surveillance issue, we interviewed John and talked about the relationship between data, people, and cities. You can read the interview here.
Please note that the current ChiDM exhibit is made of paper and extremely fragile. Please be extra-cautious of your surroundings while attending!
