On Saturday, October 21, 2017, MAS Context is organizing the fourth edition of MAS Context : Analog in Chicago, our one-day event of talks, an onsite pop-up bookstore, and a film screening. The event is hosted at the Joinery.
MAS Context : Analog will gather a group of emerging and established practitioners within the field of design who will discuss their work based on four proposed themes: Food, Institution, Prototype, and Music. The event will include talks by artists, writers, architects, graphic designers, and musicians.
Speakers include Charles Adler, Elizabeth Blasius, Jessica Charlesworth, Judith De Jong, Stewart Hicks, Sean Lally, Marcia Lausen, Angee Lennard, Molly Meyer, Tim Parsons, John Pobojewski, Aaron Rodgers, Micah Stanley, and Alisa Wolfson.
MAS Context : Analog also includes an onsite pop-up bookstore featuring issues of MAS Context as well as books and other items by speakers and other designers.
The talks will be followed by a party in the space with music by Eavan Wallner.

“STARSHIP CHICAGO” SHORT FILM PREMIERE IN CHICAGO
4:00 – 4:20 pm Screening of the 2017 short film “Starship Chicago” directed by Nathan Eddy. The documentary focuses on the 1985 State of Illinois Center / James R. Thompson Center designed by architect Helmut Jahn, a remarkable building facing an unknown fate.

This event is open to the general public with a $15 donation collected at the door. Please RSVP so we can prepare accordingly. Stop by anytime or plan to stay all afternoon, listen to the talks, buy publications, connect with other designers, and enjoy the party after the talks. It is a celebration of the design community in Chicago and we want you to be part of it.
The event takes place at the Joinery, a dynamic new multi-use venue in the heart of Logan Square. The Joinery is available for all types and sizes of celebrations or for use as a day-light studio, production or gallery/performance space. The Joinery is located at 2533 W Homer Street, next to the Western train stop (CTA Blue Line). The studio is also accessible via the #49 (Western), and #73 (Armitage) bus routes. Use Google maps to find your route. We encourage the use of public transportation, bicycles, and walking. Street parking is limited in the area.
